Toulouse-Lautrec Exhibition In Rome

The beautiful and iconic Ara Pacis Museum in Rome has a new exhibition called 'Toulouse-Lautrec: The Budapest Arts Museum Collection' which continues until the 8th May 2016. On display are 170 works of art, including posters, litographies, illustrations, sheet music covers and flyers created by the quintessentially Parisian painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec; one of the best-known painters of the Post-Impressionist period, alongside Cézanne, Van Gogh and Gauguin. The collection and exhibition has been borrowed from the Budapest's Art Museum (Szépmű vészeti Múzeum) and coincides with the 150th anniversary of the artist's death. Focusing on the final decade of his brief career (1891-1900), the exhibition leads us through the cabarets, theatres and brothels of Toulouse-Lautrec's world, beginning at the infamous Moulin Rouge, the initial birthplace of his fascinating career.
